A small tattoo is the easiest kind to decide on. It has one catch: the smaller the tattoo, the more the design has to hold up. At the studio we pick the size so that even a tiny tattoo still looks good in a few years.
What size holds up
A small tattoo packed with detail blurs as it ages. So we start from the smallest size your design can carry and tell you that size together with the quote. A simple design in a small size usually ages better than a busy one squeezed into a few centimetres.
Without an appointment we do fine line up to 5 × 5 cm. Anything bigger or more detailed is planned and quoted separately.
Small tattoo ideas
There is no fixed list. A few directions to start from:
- A simple symbol. A star, a moon, a wave, a flower.
- A word or a short phrase. Lettering works well small. Margo works in fine line and lettering.
- A date or coordinates. Discreet, and only the right people understand them.
- A line drawing. A silhouette, an animal, an object in a few strokes.
- Something from a trip. A street, palm trees, the sea. There are examples in our work, and more in souvenir tattoo ideas from Málaga and Spain.
If you don’t know where to start, bring a sketch, a photo or a screenshot. You can also pick a frame from our work and we adapt it to you.
Small tattoos for women and for men
Designs don’t have a gender. What changes is taste and the part of the body. What does matter is size and detail, and that is the same for everyone. Tell us what you like and we suggest a version that fits you and the placement.
Where to put it
Placement matters as much as size. We don’t tattoo hands, feet, elbows or knees, and the reason is how the skin behaves:
- Hands and feet. The skin renews faster, and washing, creams, work, shoes and socks rub the same lines every day. Ink drops out, what stays spreads, and the piece needs redoing within a year or two.
- Elbows and knees, front and back. The skin is thin and folds all day, so lines blur and fade sooner.
Tell us your idea and we suggest a placement where it still looks like your design in five years.

Before you decide
- You need to be 18 or older, with a photo ID.
- Tell us anything that could affect healing. It helps the tattoo heal well.
- Sleep well, eat before you come, and skip alcohol the day before.
Afterwards, aftercare: keep it clean and moisturised, and out of the sea, pools and sun for a month. All of it is in tattoo aftercare: the first days, week and month.
Questions people ask
Do small tattoos hurt less?
They take less time, which makes them easier to get through. How much you feel depends mostly on the placement. Our pain guide goes through it.
Can I get a small tattoo without an appointment?
Yes: fine line up to 5 × 5 cm, Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00–23:00. It is explained in tattoo walk-ins in Málaga.
Can I get a matching one with someone?
Yes. Matching tattoos for friends and couples has ideas and practical details.
Does a small tattoo need a touch-up?
Small walk-in pieces rarely do. For bigger or more detailed work we tell you in advance if a touch-up is likely.
