Tattoo on holiday
Getting a tattoo while you’re on holiday in Málaga.
People ask this on forums every week: is it a bad idea to get a tattoo on a trip? In Málaga it’s routine. The timing matters more than the studio you pick.
Timing your tattoo
Put it near the end of your trip, not the start. A fresh tattoo can’t go in the sea, a pool or strong sun for a month, so getting one on day one of a two-week holiday means covering it up for the rest of it.
The healing rules don’t change because you’re travelling: same washing, same cream, same month off the beach. Our aftercare guide covers the full routine, with a printable schedule.
Getting home
A few practical things change once you’re heading home from Málaga.
- Flying
- A small tattoo: you can fly the same day, right after your session. A large one: get it done at least 24 hours before you fly, not the day of your flight.
- On travel day
- Dress comfortably and keep the area away from straps and seatbelts. Leave the second-skin film or bandage on until we’ve told you it’s time to take it off.
Walk in, or book ahead
Small pieces, the kind you decide on the same day from our wall of designs, are walk-in, Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00–23:00, no need to plan ahead. Larger or custom work needs an appointment, so the artist has time to prepare the design before you arrive.
For that, you don’t have to wait until you land. Set it up by chat beforehand: send your idea, agree the design, and reserve your slot with a deposit paid by bank transfer. We’ll send the consent form to sign in advance too, so the session itself is quick.
Checking a studio before you land
Most of what people worry about with a “vacation tattoo” (stolen portfolio photos, unclear hygiene, no way to check reviews) comes from studios set up purely for passing tourists, with no local accountability. Málaga is Spain: the same hygiene rules and the same healthcare system as the rest of the EU apply here, tourist season or not.
Before you book anywhere, check what you can actually verify: single-use needles and certified hygiene, a portfolio of real work, and reviews you can read yourself. 4.9 on Google, from over 200 of them.
What if I need a touch-up after I’ve gone home?
Small walk-in pieces rarely need one. For larger or detailed work, we’ll tell you in advance if a touch-up is likely, so it’s part of the plan, not a surprise.
Is it cheaper here than where I live?
We don’t price against what a tattoo costs where you’re from. We quote by size, detail and colour, the same as for any client. Ask for a quote before you book, so there’s no surprise on the day.
What if I don’t speak Spanish?
We speak English, Italian, French, German, Polish and Ukrainian too. Send your idea by chat: a photo, a sketch, or the number of a piece from our work, and we’ll confirm the design and price before you arrive in Málaga.
